Why It's Actually President Obama Who Will Benefit Most From the First Debate

President Obama gave such a clear walk over to the Republican candidate, Mitt Romney in the First Presidential debate that it now seems almost a deliberate well thought out plan. I mean just the very thought of not using the infamous 47 % remark against Romney shows a well thought out strategy on the part of the President. Can you even imagine the number of aides and campaign strategist's that had written the 47% remark as the first point in their presentations to President Obama before the debate. What is even more interesting is that even after Mitt Romney lied on various core issues, the President seemed in no mood to take his opponent to the cleaners on those points. Also Romney's camp must have written at least a dozen escape plans for him to defend his role in Bain Capital and yet not a word on that issue from the President. And most Democrats immediately went into a defensive mode, without even feeling puzzled even once?

But before we analyze the Obama camp's mysterious response to the debate, let us first set some facts in order. It's about Romney's blatant lies or misinformation. The last I checked the complete transcripts of the debate, I could easily count five misrepresentations on his part. And as I point out later in the article, Mitt Romney will soon realize that these five big lies he tried to sell to the American people will come out to haunt his campaign very soon.

First, on the issue of the magnitude of his Tax cuts, Romney denied his tax cuts could range 5 Trillion Dollars. Independent economist have well established that the price tag of his Tax cuts would exceed 360 billion Dollar in the first year itself, ballooning way beyond the 5 trillion dollar mark in a decade itself.

The second is related to his assertion that his tax cuts will be financed by closing a variety of loopholes and deductions in the existing tax system. Great! The only problem is he hasn't named even one that he can close! Independent tax experts have firmly established that Romney's plan will only result in a 'net tax cut for the highest income group' and a 'net tax increase' for lower and middle income households. On top of it Romney plans to have targeted tax cuts like the estate tax cuts, which will only make life easier for the richest, including his own sons' tax burden.

Third is the number he very emphatically produced during the debate, of 23 million American "who have stopped looking for work". Well, official figures show 12.5 million unemployed, 2.6 million who have stopped looking for work and does that add to 23 million? Not in normal arithmetic, unless it's convenient for Governor Romney to include the 8 million part time workers as unemployed! That is indeed imaginative.

Fourth is his charge that in Obamacare, the unelected board will decide what kind of treatment a patient can have or not. True, Obamacare does have a system of Independent Payment Advisory Board, but it is for constraining Medicare on excess spending. The private insurance market remains out of its purview. And also this specific body is explicitly banned from rationing or limiting healthcare facilities to seniors.

The Fifth was on his health care plan having 'pre-existing conditions' covered. Under Romney, if you have a pre-existing condition and have been unable to obtain insurance coverage or if you have had to drop coverage for more than 90 days because you lost your job or couldn't afford the premiums, you are done for. Insurance companies could continue to discriminate and deny you coverage. And Romney's own Campaign manager concedes that, but only and conveniently once the debate is over.

So coming back to the reason, this post was intended in the first place, why did Obama just let him get away with all that. We have all seen Barack Obama as the fired up debater during his campaign days in 2007-2008. The fiery debater, armed with facts, backed by eloquence, silencing even his greatest opponents. Where was he? Lets pause here for a moment and remember the fact, 'that' fiery debater is now the also the President of The United States of America. So, do I suggest that becoming the President Nulls one's debating skills or your wit or affability or command over facts!!! Nopes, but just some nuances do come into play and a hell lot of a sense of statesmanship and responsibility.

To understand this one has to look at it as a well thought out strategy or the limitations Barack Obama - the debater- has, as a President or as a finely balanced mix of both. First and foremost is the limitation or better put, responsibility to not look angry as the President of United States of America. He knew before hand, that even if Romney misrepresents facts, he just cannot be explicitly seen as the guy pointing out in the first debate itself that his opponent is completely wrong. It would portray him as THE President using his authority to denounce a fumbling guy, even if it were on facts. He knew that sooner or later any lies spoken, will be picked up by media and the people (as it has happened), and eventually his silence would be understood and appreciated.

There also seems to be a basic understanding in Obama's campaign, that attacking or increasing the heat in the hugely anticipated first debate has to be avoided at all cost. The strategy seems to be, 'let Romney misrepresent, make him seem- oh he is not that bad taking on Obama- for a day or two and then allow the real facts to roll. The Obama campaign knew it would be a double whammy for the Romney camp, for as people realize the truth, they will have a feeling that this guy is so desperate, he lied to us so blatantly and to top it, tried to pass it off as a victory!

In the end this debate could end up haunting Mitt Romney, a scenario very different to the initial sense of jubilation that the Republicans are showing. And if he continues like this, - which seems unlikely- he can be assured of massive political damage. As for the Obama camp, I would say it was a subtle inter mix of knowing that the truth is on their side, character and some great political acumen. They knew Romney has tried to trick America in the past, will come fast and furious again with the wrong facts again and ultimately pay for it.

As the days settle and the Debate is deconstructed everywhere, American's will realize one of their candidates lied to them blatantly just to look good in a debate, their President letting them knowing what Mitt Romney really is by not interrupting him, and finally the realization that the initial debate outcome perception was a bit skewed. Barack Obama as a candidate and as the President has always taken the initiative to talk things through, but this time he knew his inaction was needed. He knew the old adage of not interrupting when your opponent is making mistakes. This debate was lost by us. Because we needed to. Because we had to. Because we wanted to. Democrats have to realize and understand why the battle was lost, so that the war could be won.

Don't Blame the President!

In 2008 massive numbers of American's voted the nation's first Black President into office. Crying, cheering and overwhelmed citizens had no idea however, the events that would unfold over the next 48 months. Fast-forward 4 years to the year 2012. Like before, some citizens are crying, others are still cheering and scores feel overwhelmed. No matter what part of the crowd you find yourself in, consider this... "Don't Blame the President."

If you voted for President Obama and you like what he is doing, you're probably cheering. If you did not vote for the President and you don't like what he is doing, you're probably crying. And if you're overwhelmed, you should be in light of the astonishing policies, economic tumult and the position he has taken regarding the traditional family.

The reason you should not blame the President is because as a nation, we are getting exactly what we ourselves have become, in a sense, he is an accelerated version of own carnal ways. We should be more shocked at the image reflecting the picture of our walk with God.

As a born again believer and Pastor of a church, I watch in amazement as complaining Christians detest the actions of a leader they voted for. Is the ado about nothing? Of course not! America is dysfunctional. But why, because of the President? In part it is a Presidential problem, but the majority of the blame rests with the Luke Warm Believer.

The Christian population voted for the President and if we are now angry, what do you suppose God thinks about His people who lack discernment? A decent prayer life would have provided ample alarm if only the time was taken to pray. Instead, most did as they always do, live life apart from God until they need something. Don't blame the President for being who he is. He is only demonstrating the voice of our actions.

And while the President bows to foreign leaders, we bow at the altar of compromise. His apologies are akin to the excuses we make for not tithing. The President snubs Israel while many of us are ashamed of Jesus. And yes, we mutually share the out of control spending habits, here again, the government and its citizens are one.

Some believe President Obama is trying to destroy the country, to level the playing field as we snugly sit at the table of nations. Agreed, but the stages of the dismantling of our nation began some 50 years ago we let the devil take prayer out of schools. And today, parents get angry when their children get corrected. We tear down the country when the divorce rate among Christians is equal those who claim no relationship with God. We destroy the country when we confess Jesus and then don't obey Him.

Don't Blame The President. He has only done, what we have become.

Side With the President or Else

We are in a recurring time in history when choosing the wrong side could have an indelible impact on future generations. No choice is more pronounced in American and in world history as the one regarding who will lead America back to Christ-likeness.

Although the decision seems to be Republican or Democratically based, it's really not. At the forefront of the issue is the set of beliefs our leaders adopt and how their beliefs either clash with or confer with God's platform.

The President's views and the Bible drastically differ on critical issues like same-sex-marriage, the importance of the nation of Israel and the value of the unborn. In all such cases and in every era, the Word of God wins. Some will want to make this gap about a man and his political party, others will see it as right vs wrong. I humbly submit that the proper order of God's stated priority is as follows:

"Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done." (Matthew 6:10)

"But Seek Ye First the Kingdom of God... " (Matthew 6:33)

"Love the Lord Your God with all Your Heart and with all Your Soul and with all Your Mind" (Matthew 22:37)

When Preachers and Politicians lose their God-center, each becomes comfortable in shielding their convictions. The challenge associated with this line of thought is that truth then becomes a tool of compromise. The Kingdom of God did not come to earth as a subordinate system of behavior, but as a supercharged seed of infinite power.

People of God should live Christ-led not Man-centered lives. And when the clergy sides with man over God, the country morphs into an emerging 3rd world nation. But because the United States is so big and its people are so distracted, few will take the time to seriously contemplate what this will look like. Despite the complication produced by the abundance of choices, change for the better is quite simple.

Here is the change; side with God.

Change is a challenge however, for both the educated and the uneducated alike. This is because each received a 21st century course on sensitivity training which prepares the adept to avoid making a stand. While learning how to respect those who are different from us, we also learned to blur the line that divides truth from error. For decades this wind of doctrine has blown cultural smoke into our eyes and made it easy to ignore what should be considered egregious behavior. We must take a side. A short attention span can no longer make tabling our decision attractive, as changing the subject will not eliminate individual responsibility. Procrastination as a means of coping is unacceptable, mental clarity must begin now.

And as the masses inhale and exhale through the various stages of sleep, may their dreams be interrupted with the sobering reminder that God is watching and awaiting their awakening. The older generations believed that when you know better you should do better; many of us know better than we're doing. Yet, no one will be forced to live right, honor God and do their best. Unfortunately, there will be those who remain bent on personal devotion to self and man-centered worship. All generations have faced this crossroad. The road we take now and the side we choose will globally and spiritually locate our spiritual position.

Some will side with the President regardless of his stand. Other's will stand against him even if his positions change. Both groups contain the error common to the self-absorbed. But the stand of principal importance is that we highly regard God and His Kingdom. (Matt. 6:10, Matt. 6:33 & Matt. 22:37) Causes, agendas, affiliations and programs must all relent and give way to God's heartbeat; that is, the choosing of the Lord Jesus and the gathering of His family to His side.

Romney and Obama: Election Issues - Who Will Win the Election? - Who Will Be President?

Romney and Obama! This is of primary interest this fall. Who will win the election? Who will be President? What are the main election issues that are involved?

As a lawyer, I know that nailing the issues of a situation is vitally important. We know if we don't win the main issues, we lose our case. It's the same in politics as in the courtroom: the things people are most affected by are the main election issues of the campaign.

We all know that charisma, charm and likeability play too big a role in politics. It's often the one who smiles the most, shakes the most hands, and gives the best speeches who wins the election - national, state or local. Ability often plays a lesser role. But issues don't. Both Romney and Obama must nail the election issues.

America: Back to the Basics

I wrote a book with the above title. I wrote it for the Bush vs. Dukakis election of 1988. My slogan was, "Campaigning for America, not for political office." It was a book about getting back to the basics of a Constitutional, moral, ethical, caring America.

I tried to revive John F. Kennedy's slogan from 1960: "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country." I got on many radio and T.V. talk shows, and lots of people wanted to talk about this. So it was well timed for a political election. People knew we were getting too far away from a moral, Constitutional America.

Romney's 47% Remark

The news is telling us that Mitt Romney, the Republican candidate, made a remark about 47% of the people in the U.S. not paying federal income taxes, and being too dependent on the U.S. government for support.

I feel this will be one of the major issues of the 2012 election.

What Can My Country Do For Me?

Sadly, JFK's words of 1960 have been put into dry-dock, and they have been changed to say, "Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you."

We have a different America today than we had in 1960, or even in 1988 when I wrote my book. Unemployment compensation, and other temporary assistance programs are necessary. People get in hard times and need a helping hand for a period of time.

But sadly, there are many, many people with their hand out trying to grab anything they can get. And I don't just mean beggars on the street corner.

The issues for many people will be, "Which candidate can give me the most?" - "Which candidate will benefit me the most?" It has been said many times that more and more people are tuned into radio station WIIFM: 'what's in it for me?'

This mode of thinking will be a primary issue in the 2012 election. If they get their say, it will drive America further downhill. We will be given more and more assistance, and we'll become addicted to it even more.

What Can I Do For My County?

In case you haven't noticed, America needs help. We are very rapidly heading for a crash we will not be able to recover from. Our founding fathers predicted this if we ever let government get out of control and become too big. This is the situation today.

Many people just what to see it get bigger with their WIIFM thinking.

Those of us who don't subscribe to this must get out and vote in November, and we must urge everyone we know who is like-minded to do the same. There is not much we can do about what is happening, but we can vote. "The power of one" is still the name of the game.

We live in the greatest nation on earth. But she may not remain so if we don't act. Romney and Obama: what are the election issues? Who will win the election? Who will be president? Who will be the best president for America? We are the judge, but we must issue a ruling and vote.

A President Debate or a Well Orchestrated Love Fest?

President Debate: A cordial smoke screen.

As many of you know the President debate took place last night in the mile high city of Denver, Colorado. An estimated 40-50 million people watched the debate. It was a chance for the candidates to show off their charismatic yet human sides. The candidates were very cordial toward their adversary. They performed within a narrow range of emotions. The candidates started off the debate with a welcoming handshake that could be mistaken for a greeting from long-lost friends. I know I was not the only one that thought the pleasantries were a little over done. I expected the candidates to act civil and I figured the candidates to not tip their hand in their much-anticipated debate. However, the background rhetoric indicated the debate would be a more of a respectful disagreeing slug fest.

Let me lay down the facts for you:

1. The candidates were reportedly not in the same room with each other for 5 years.

2. The ad commercials was a chance to question each other's facts.

3. They ideological disagree.

4. They both have questioned each other's character.

5. Did I mention 50 million voters could be watching?

6. It was a chance to change the opinion's of millions of voters.

When you consider these men have been at each other's throat for year, the candidates had plenty of time to prepare. The candidates have waited on this moment for years like a highly anticipated boxing match. The candidates engaged in debate rehearsals. I bet a college debate would have had more character than this unsanctioned love fest.

Mitt Romney's video recording says he would write off 47% of American voters. President Obama missed a golden opportunity in my opinion. The President repeatedly mischaracterized Mitt Romney's reduction of the debt plan. Mitt Romney said he would stop financial credits to the Public Broadcasting Station which produce favorite childhood characters such as Elmo, Big Bird, The Count, and the entire cast of Sesame Street. Vice President Biden said in front of a mostly African-American audience the Republicans would put you back in financial shackles. (Although, he never mentioned slavery but the insinuation was there) I did not agree with the VP any more than the negative language used by the Republicans. In my opinion, psychological undertones by either party have no place in politics.

In closing I hope the next debate is more spirited. I believe we should show passions more because they are more believable than a well-rehearsed speech. I watched the entire debate waiting to see a clear difference in ideological beliefs. Those are my opinions, now it is your turn to weigh in. Were you please at what you saw? Which candidate do you think gained the upper hand? Did you fall asleep watching?

If Americans Were Ever to Vote Into Office a Truly Socialist President Would They Deserve the USA?

The most recent 100-years of history have shown how troubling a truly socialist regime can be on a nation's economy and population. We've seen Mussolini and Hitler which go well beyond anything we'd wish to be discussing here today. Still, even the lesser reigned-in socialists can devastate a country for instance Argentina and their many economic collapses, or Greece for instance. Right now, we see the culmination of many years of socialist parties in Europe, it isn't pretty.

What if a socialist-party was in charge of the US? Even if they didn't call themselves socialist, what if they merely hijacked the Republican or Democrat Party as their lead in to office? If all the members of that party controlled the US Congress, and eventually had appointed Supreme Court Justices with like minds, you could see how problematic it would be if a socialist-president were elected. Could we too go the way of Europe's PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, and Spain)? Well sure, that could easily happen. In fact, we haven't done so well with our own finances even without being a truly-socialist country.

Now then, when I say "truly socialist" president please understand I am not talking about Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama or anyone else for that matter. Thus, this article should not be meant to include quasi-socialists either. Sure, some might say there is a fine line, but I'd say we all understand the difference, plus if particular politicians in the hierarchy of leadership are more of a quasi-communist, this article would not apply to them either, so please do not condemn, as this is not an attack ad, even if I am approving this overall message.

We just recently watched Hugo Chavez get reelected after turning the country into the proverbial socialist economic nightmare in Venezuela; two major currency devaluations, nationalizing of corporate assets, and even buying votes. The inflation rate has made it very tough on that nation. Speaking of buying votes Hugo Chavez has given cellphones to the population who could not afford them, free refrigerators, TVs (to watch the now state controlled media dishing out political propaganda), free-food, and other items.

You should not be too surprised in many regards we see similar things happening in the US, the buying of votes that is with the Food Stamp Program here at home. Perhaps, what concerns me is that as we head down a similar road, how long until we actually do get a truly socialist president of the United States, one which is surrounded by like-minded people, and once we do, then what. Will we lose it all just like those other nations in past periods, or perhaps very soon present periods? Think on this and vote with your mind this time.
